Francis "Frank" J. Tavano

June 19, 1948 — December 2, 2022

New Hartford, Connecticut

Francis “Frank” J. Tavano, 74, of New Hartford, CT, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022. He was the husband of Toni (Tartaglino) Tavano.

Frank was born June 19, 1948, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late John B. and Lena R. (DiDominzio) Tavano. He graduated from Torrington High School, Class of 1966, after which he entered The National Guard. During this time, he worked for his family’s business where he mastered his trade as a licensed glazer, the culmination of which was him starting his own business, Area Glass & Mirror Company, in 1988. Frank took great pride in his work, enjoyed people and was never too busy for a lively conversation.

During his younger years, he was one of the founding members of the Kuarter Klan Car Club where he and fellow members bonded over their love of cars. In 1971, Frank met his future bride, Toni Tartaglino when she asked him for a ride on his motorcycle.

Two children and thirty-three years later, he and Toni settled in New Hartford, CT, where they built their dream home with the assistance of their son John, good friend Jerry Franceschetti, and various tradesmen friends he had met over the years. He and Toni celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

Frank enjoyed family gatherings, watching NASCAR with his puppy Sammie, and fiddling with various home projects (in recent years with the assistance of daughter Nicole). Frank especially loved watching the joyful antics of his beautiful grandchildren, Parker and Peyton. There is no doubt he is bursting with pride as he continues to watch them from a distant star. Rest well Frank. We got your message - we miss you too.

In addition to his wife Toni, he is survived by a daughter, Nicole Tavano of New Hartford, CT; a son, John and his wife Ashley Tavano of New Hartford, CT; a grandson Parker and granddaughter Peyton Tavano, sisters Estelle ‘Esty’ Macsata (Rick) of Torrington, Patricia Long and Linda Lena both of California, several nieces and nephews and his loyal puppy Sammie.
