Francis Joseph Whalen

Francis Joseph Whalen, 91, of Harwinton, CT, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Grech) Whalen.
Francis was born on August 10, 1925, in Torrington, CT, son of the late James H. and Josephine (Gleason) Whalen. He proudly served his country during World War II with the United States Navy. He was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the Victory Medal.
Francis was employed by the State of Connecticut as a Bridge Inspector until his retirement.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. There are no calling hours.
