Eugene ”Gene” Gisselbrecht, 82, of Torrington, CT, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016, at Cherry Brook Health Center after a long illness.  He was the beloved husband of Doris (Iannelli) Gisselbrecht.

Gene was born January 21, 1934, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Edward and Antoinette (Allard) Gisselbrecht.  He was employed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation as a Real Estate Appraiser until his retirement as Division Chief, after which he continued his professional career as an Associate of the Marshall Cohen Agency. An active member in the community,  he was a member of the Torrington Elk’s Lodge, a former Usher at St. Francis of Assisi Church, a former member of the St. Francis of Assisi Finance Board, the St. Peter Drum Corps, and of the Torrington Civic Symphony.

In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by one son, Richard Albrecht (Sally) of Canton, CT; one daughter, Claudia Urian (Bob) of East Hampton, CT; one brother, Edward Gisselbrecht of Naples, FL; one sister, Ann-Marie Rozsas of Naples, FL; three grandchildren, Peter Albrecht, Collin Albrecht, Nicholas Urian, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Gisselbrecht.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016, with the cortege leaving at 10:00 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30.  Entombment will follow at St. Peter Mausoleum.  Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
