Dorothy "Dot" Zecchin

February 26, 1933 — October 31, 2025

Winsted, Connecticut

Dorothy “Dot” Zecchin of Winsted, CT died peacefully at Cherry Brook Health Care Center on October 31, 2025, after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of the late Charles Zecchin for 63 years.

Dorothy was born in Unionville, CT on February 26, 1933, to the late Joseph and Mary Chicos. She was a 1952 graduate of The Gilbert School and married Charlie on November 5, 1955. She was employed by the Town of Winchester as a school secretary for numerous principals, her favorite being Art Dobos. Her love of children was apparent in the way she treated the students but became more obvious in the love she showed her grandsons and great grandsons. In recent years, she lived for their next visit.

She and Charlie were fortunate to have been able to travel to Europe twice and to many states, including Hawaii. After retirement, most of their time away was spent at their home on Cape Cod.

She is survived by her daughter Charlann Smith and husband Edward, son Thomas Zecchin and wife Val; grandsons Patrick Smith and wife Sophia, Brendan Smith, and Thomas Smith and wife Hannah; great grandsons Theodore and Louis Smith; niece and nephew Jennifer and Brian Turgeon, and close friend Pinky Mangione. She was predeceased by her sister Jo-Ann Turgeon and husband Robert, and special friend Kay Fradette.

Special thanks to Devin, Daysi, and Sandy for taking such good care of her this past year and making her feel so special.

There are no calling hours. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Cook Funeral Home has care of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Joseph’s Church, 31 Oak Street, Winsted, CT 06098.
