Charlotte Kautz

Charlotte (Ponce) Kautz, 88, of Harwinton, CT, peacefully passed away at her home on July 14, 2026.

She was born October 6, 1937, in the Bronx, NY. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Ponce and Jessie (Ponce) Wong. She is survived by her son Scott Kautz and his wife Suzanne Kautz of Merrimac, MA and their three sons Zackary, Joseph and Nickolas. Her daughter Carolyn Sue Fortuna, who predeceased her mother, has left behind her two grandchildren Anthony Asselta and his wife Julia as well as Angela Asselta and her husband Ely Ayala and their three children Mason, Marcus and Makenna. Charlotte also leaves behind her son Richard Kautz and his family.

Charlotte was an exceptional person. She was foremost a mother, daughter, wife and partner. Charlotte excelled at everything she did. She graduated from college with honors. She became a nurse and excelled in her field to become the head of nursing at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. She loved her flowers and she loved her gardens. She also loved decorating every house that she lived in. Charlotte loved her family especially when they were all together and she will be missed by everyone that she touched.

Charlotte has also left behind by her long-time partner Joseph John Roberts and his son Matthew Roberts and his family. She is also survived by the father of her three children Lewis E Kautz of Boynton Beach, Florida.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Flushing Cemetery, Flushing, NY at 10:00 am.
