Charles S. Piontkewicz

Charles S. Piontkewicz, the beloved husband of the late Rosalie (Starnes) Piontkewicz, who preceded him in death on December 9, 2022, after sharing 65 years together, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023, with his family by his side.

Charles was born November 5, 1935, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Kalinowski) Piontkewicz. He served his country with dedication in the United States Air Force and later enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Tool and Die Maker at New Departure until his retirement. Charles was a cherished member of the Torrington Elks Lodge #372. Charles greatly enjoyed visiting other Elks Clubs on his trips to the ocean. He found great joy in his passion for fishing, especially in the Cape. For Charles, hunting was a source of enjoyment, as he embraced the sport and being outdoors. He also liked to feed the local birds and tend to his vegetable garden. Apart from his other interests, he was a loyal supporter of the UCONN Women’s and Men’s Basketball teams.

He is survived by two children, Dean Piontkewicz (Carolyn) of Goshen, CT, Christina Bilosz of Draper, UT; one brother, Robert DePretis of Torrington, CT; two sisters, Lucille Paige of Torrington, CT, Mary Rosenbeck of Harwinton, CT; three grandchildren, Jeremy and Rachel Piontkewicz of Goshen, CT, and Caitlin Bilosz of Draper Utah, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT.  Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 12:00 noon until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Litchfield County, 32 Union St., Winsted, CT 06098.
