He designed the new sleeve bearing fan (patented) successfully setting up manufacturing in England. He authored a magazine article and presented an ASME paper on Four-Slide Cams. In total, he obtained eight USA patents and one Japanese patent for his innovative designs. He designed and developed new air moving products from concept to successful mass production using SolidWorks CAD 3-D software during the last ten years of his career.
In addition, he proudly served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1964.
Bob was an avid runner and tennis player, who loved to read and travel. He enjoyed traveling to Newport, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, and London. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Bob was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church, where he was President of the Holy Name Society for two years. Subsequently, he faithfully attended Our Lady of Hope Church.
Bob is deeply mourned by his family, his beloved wife of 58 years, Evelyn, and his cherished daughters Amy Ranallo of Bloomfield, CT, Krista Eddy of West Hartford, CT, his twin sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Dowd of Torrington, CT, and many nieces and nephews.
