Cecilia M. Kuhn

Cecilia Mary Kuhn was born in Sydney Nova Scotia Canada on 9/8/1935 and passed on 1/6/2026. She was the second daughter of 7 children born to Mary and Aloysius Colbert. She leaves behind her twin children David Kuhn, wife Cheryl, Eileen (Kuhn) Vitti, husband Christopher, Gabrielle and Christian. Her sister Mary bothers Tom and Percy Colbert and many nieces and nephews.

Cecila was pre-deceased by her husband Arthur and infant child Gerardene as well as her sisters Clare Morrison, Anne Ripley, brother Patrick (Butch) Colbert and sisters-in-laws Joann and Sharon Colbert.

After completed nursing school in Canada, Cecilia moved to New York city, where she worked in a hospital and met Arthur on a ski trip. They married and settled in Torrington Connecticut where they started their family. Cecilia worked for Dr. Finn for many years followed by an OBGYN practice. During her later years there she started doing private duty nursing in Litchfield which led to the start of her entrepreneurial career. In 1983 she founded Northwest Home Care & Nurses Registry. In 1999 she sold it and opened Unlimited Home Care, later renamed West Street Home Care.

Cecilia built her dream home in 2003 on Highland Lake where she spent more than 20 years. She enjoyed spending time on her pontoon boat and entertaining friends and family. Her most precious time was spent with her two beloved grandchildren Christian and Gabrielle. She taught them how to fish and enjoy life like she did through rose colored glasses.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
