Carolyn Cox Borgman, 63, of Winsted, CT, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Dana Borgman. Carrie was born on October 17, 1962, in Bangor, Maine, the cherished daughter of David and Marjorie (Korzon) Cox of Winsted, CT.
Carrie was the proud mother of three children: Emily Borgman of Winsted, CT, Daniel (Jordan, M.D.) Borgman of Barkhamsted, CT, and Zach Borgman of Winsted, CT. She was a grandmother to Archer Borgman of Barkhamsted who she treasured deeply. Carrie also held a special bond with her sister, Kathlyn (Ronald) Gainer of Winsted, CT. Her extended family included three nieces, Cathleen, Margaret and Kathlyn, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins who brought additional light and laughter into her life.
A proud graduate of the Gilbert School and UConn, Carrie pursued her passion for nursing with grace and professionalism. She took a number of years away from work to raise her children and returned to work as a School Nurse at Gilbert School. Throughout her years of service, she touched countless lives with her kindness and expertise, embodying the true spirit of caregiving.
Carrie enjoyed scrapbooking, macrame, gardening, skeet shooting, family gatherings and travel. A trip to Maine was always welcome. Trips to Pennsylvania were enjoyed and she often went to Raleigh to visit friends she made when she lived there. She maintained her friendships in Germany, also made when she lived there. She could make an apple pie as good as her grandmother’s, where she often made them. She also made other food items for people suffering illness or loss. As part of a church program, she visited people to support them through illness. Her love of animals was almost limitless, snakes being the one exception. There was always at least one dog in her home, sometimes a cat, and she often fostered dogs waiting for adoption.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT. Burial will be private.
Carolyn’s departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of care, strength, and love endures through the countless lives she impacted and through the family she cherished so dearly. The memory of her gentle spirit and radiant kindness will live on as a lasting tribute to a life well-lived.
