Carla (Casali) Gnitzcavich

On Tuesday, October 11, our beloved Carla Casali Gnitzcavich passed peacefully into God’s eternal kingdom surrounded by her loving family. Carla was born in Torrington, CT, on September 30, 1964, to the late Dino and Corinne Zoli Casali. She was the youngest of four children.

Carla was a graduate of St. Peter School, Torrington High School, and attended the University of Connecticut. For many years she worked as an order clerk at the brokerage firm of Fahnestock & Co. She was also a member of the First Assembly of God in Torrington.

In 1991 Carla married Michael Gnitzcavich, the love of her life, and gave birth to their son, Michael, in 1992. Together they forged an unusually strong family bond. Motivated by Carla’s love of animals, their home was filled with pets of all kinds, and especially tea-cup Chihuahuas. Carla had fun attending concerts, black-Friday shopping, and watching her son play sports. She cherished the annual extended family vacation and the many adventures she had with her husband and son.

Faced with daunting physical challenges, Carla inspired everyone she encountered with her lighthearted attitude and triumphant spirit.  A radiant smile and joyful laugh were her endearing trademarks.

In addition to her husband and son, she also leaves behind her brothers David Casali (April) and Paul Casali (Donna), her sister Dina Peebles (Chip), and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington on October 15th from 10am-noon, immediately followed by a service.
