Betty Jean (Parks) Gauthier

Betty Jean (Parks) Gauthier, 80, of Bull Road, Harwinton, CT, Passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Litchfield Woods Nursing Home.  She joins her two sons, Bruce and Brent, and her husband Earl Gauthier, who predeceased her.

Betty was born in Lackawanna, NY to Helen (Fraser) and Morton Parks on January 1, 1937. Betty was the first New Year’s baby born that year.  She was in the U.S. Navy for a short time, until she met her husband, who was in the Air Force, and went on to travel with him and raise their family, settling in Harwinton in 1974.

“Memere”, as Betty was known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, loved to knit and crochet. She was also an avid reader and loved to watch the UCONN girls basketball.

She is survived by her daughters, Wendy Gauthier (Keith), Christy Boulay, Robin Reid (Jay) and four grandchildren, Ashley Boulay, Amanda Boulay, Paige Reid, Jenna Trudi Gauthier, and two great grandchildren, Sharon Boulay and Robert Boulay.  She is also survived by a brother, Roger Parks of Maine, and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Per Betty’s request, there will be no calling hours.  She is to be cremated and a private burial will be held at East Cemetery in Harwinton.  Contributions in her memory can be made to The Harwinton Ambulance, 166 Burlington Road in Harwinton, CT 06791.
