Benita A. (Pozniak) Serota

Benita A. (Pozniak) Serota, 68, of Harwinton, CT passed away April 16, 2020.  She was the wife of  Stephen Serota.  Benita was born November 16, 1951, in Torrington, CT.  She was the daughter of Benedict and Josephine  (Wysocki) Pozniak.  In addition to her husband Steve, she is survived by one brother, Benedict Pozniak of Litchfield, CT and one sister, Bernadette Marchell of Torrington, CT.

Benita's career as an employee of the State of Connecticut spanned 30 years, mostly as a professional investigator for the Dept of Social Services. Her fellow colleagues as well as numerous clients were always impressed by her unique blend of wit, compassion, and intelligence.

Benita's loving heart also extended to animals of all kinds, having adopted dozens of dogs and cats over the years.  She gave generously to many animal charities, especially rescue shelters.

Everybody who knew her were the better for her warmth, generous heart, sense of humor, and special personality.   She has gone to a better place free of infirmity and suffering.

Private graveside funeral services have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home.  A memorial service celebrating Benita's life will be held at a later date to be announced.

Memorial contributions may be made to an animal charity of the donor's choice.
