Arlene Soja

July 12, 1938 — November 25, 2025

Torrington, Connecticut

Arlene (Rinaldi) Soja, 87, a devoted mother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend passed away peacefully on November 25,2025 at Kimberly Hall South in Windsor, CT with her family by her side. She was born on July 12,1938, to Joseph and Catherine Rinaldi in Torrington Ct, where she resided for the rest of her life. After her retirement from Timex Group, she enjoyed life with her husband Tom of 64 years.

Arlene was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for many years, where she cherished friendships while giving back to her community. She always looked forward to visiting Rhode Island beaches with her husband and children each summer, taking many excursions and going to Vermont with her son and daughter-in-law, sitting by the Ocean and visiting the Casino with her daughter and son-in-law. Thursday Card games with her friends, Marlene, Donna and Carmella were one of her favorite past times. She was an avid UConn Basketball Fan of both the Men and Women’s Teams as well as a New York Yankee Fan. She traveled to the games each year on many bus trips with her husband, son and friends. Arlene was a great cook, keeping her Italian heritage alive with recipes handed down through generations. She also mastered her Mother-in-law’s Polish and Slovak dishes. Her son and son-in-law never passed up an Apple Pie offering. Weekly visits from her niece Melanie Anderson and her grandniece Vanessa Burks and son Cody were greatly cherished. Her house was always open to family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Deanna (Soja) Joyce and husband Brian Joyce of Waterbury and her son Thomas Soja and wife Tami (Stolfi) Soja of Torrington, her sisters children Linda (Computzzi) Casper and husband Steven Casper, John Computzzi and partner Susan Hardisty. She is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and many friends.

Arlene is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Soja, parents, Joseph and Catherine Rinaldi, sister, Gloria (Rinaldi) Computzzi, brother-in-law Domenic Computzzi, sister Anna Rinaldi.

Thank You to all her amazing Care Givers and Medical Staff from Keystone Place, Kimberly Hall South and Wolcott Hall. A special Thank You to her friend Patricia Stolfi for guiding her through Keystone and keeping her on track.

Gloria from Kimberly Hall South told Tom, Brian and Deanna that she met a lot of people on her journey. Some she will forget and some she will always remember. Arlene will be remembered. Thank you! We will remember you! Everyone!
