Aldo S. Zordan, 100, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Ginetta (Veltroni) Zordan, Claire (Rodemeyer) Zordan and also was a longtime companion to the late Marge Videtto.
Aldo was born April 12, 1924, in Pittsfield, MA, the son of the late Ivo and Mary (Pavoni) Zordan. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific; he was honorably discharged in 1943. He was employed by Torin Corporation until his retirement in 1982. An avid golfer, he was proud to accomplish two “holes in one” at Greenwoods Country Club, where he was a member until moving to Spring Hill, Florida where he added another "hole in one" to his legacy and where he was able to continue to golf year round. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, bingo and spending time with his many friends. He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge and the Veneta Society.
He is survived by two sons, Robert “Rob” Zordan (Donna) of Torrington, CT, Gerald “Gerry” Zordan, Sr. (Sara) of Landrum, SC; one daughter, Gail Fitterer (Paul) of Manlius, NY; one sister, Marlene Constable of Torrington, CT; five grandchildren, Gerald Zordan, Jr. (Audra), Victor Zordan, Alan Zordan (Jennifer), Gregory Zordan (Lauren), Michael Zordan (Hannah); eight great grandchildren, Samantha, Amanda, Jocelyn, Zachary, Abi (Bennett), Brody, Olivia, and Nico, as well as several nieces and nephews, and his dear friends Mary, Pat & Candy. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard and two brothers, Victor Zordan and Leo Zordan.
The family would like to extend its thanks to the staff at Valerie Manor who cared for Aldo during his brief stay and many caregivers that he has had over the past several years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s hospital. Aldo’s grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish), 160 Main St., Torrington, CT. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Francis Church. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery with full military honors accorded. There are no calling hours.
