Albert Angelo Colangelo

Albert Colangelo, 95, beloved husband of Joan (DiLullo) Colangelo, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025. Al was born in Torrington, CT, a son of the late Dominic and Mary Colangelo. He was predeceased by his brother William, and sister Jean (Colangelo) Bruno.

In addition to his wife of 71 years Joan, he leaves to hold his memory his three children, Pamela Meyer (Skip), Michael Colangelo (Aida Velez), and David Colangelo (Kelly); seven grandchildren, Samantha Macias( Eddie), Christopher Meyer (Cara), Lindsey Meyer (Ashton), Michaela Colangelo, Amanda Donacchie (Scott), Dominic Colangelo, and Joseph Colangelo; eight great grandchildren, Mariah, Avery, Mal, Brooks, Callahan, Maci, Freya and Wells. Al also leaves behind life-long cherished friends.

Al’s heart and priority was with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. While he played a very important role in their lives, they brought a smile to his face and filled him with pure joy.

Al attended Torrington public schools, graduated in 1947 from Oliver Wolcott Technical School and also obtained a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Waterbury Technical School. He enjoyed a 47-year career as a mechanical engineer at the Torrington Company Standard Plant. He was an active member of the Torrington Elks Club, serving in various positions culminating with the position of Exalted Ruler in 1980-81.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT to St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish), 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday morning, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
